As a girl, one thing you don't want to be when you grow up - your mother! As a woman, your mother becomes the bar that you measure everything by. We are no different. We are the Gibson girls. Three sisters that grew up with a mother that could do anything. Now we are grown with our own families and we try to do things the way our mom did. We lost our mom in '09 so now we have to rely on each other. When we call each other to ask for help, the answer always ends with "That's How Mom Did It!"
Several months ago I made Mom's hot sauce for a pot-luck at work. Not many people tried it but the ones that did LOVED it. No doubt. So, one of the brave ones has been asking me ever since to make it for her. So, this weekend, knowing we were going to be working together, made it. She is a super health freak and asked me not to put bacon in it this time. ???? My response was "there has NEVER been bacon in my Mom's hot sauce". Note to self...everything is better with bacon. She then said that she just assumed there was bacon because it was so salty. Oops! Needless to say I make the vegetable goodness and take to work. I had not told anyone else that I brought it because I had made it for Kealan. When she gets to work she brings it out of the refrigerator and is eating it at the desk. Now EVERYONE is curious. Some turn up their noses and frown because of the carrots. Oh well, there loss. Eventually everyone came around. Even Dr. Cabrera in his heavy Latin accent stating he hopes it's not too spicy. I kid you not, everyone that tried it loved it & they all said the same thing. What made you put carrots in hot sauce? You can all guess my response, "That's how my Mom did it". Hope everyone is doing well. Love you all! Big Hugs!!
Yum! I love that stuff. Now I really want some. Everytime I make it and take it to a new place people always look at it funny and make comments. I love when I take it to some place with people who make "real" hot sauce. It has been called "White Girl Hot Sauce". But in the end, everyone always loves it. And it is so funny that they never realize that there is celery, only carrots. Well thanks - now I need to go to the store. Love ya!
